Roundtable Discussion Intellectual Property successful

October 18th 2007

During this year’s Dutch Film Festival (‘Nederlands Filmfestival’, NFF), the Filmmuseum co-organized a roundtable discussion with Knowledgeland to talk about intellectual property issues confronting Images for the Future. The private session took place on 3rd October in Utrecht’s Louis Hartlooper Complex and set itself the following two goals: boosting the discussion surrounding the exploitation of cinematographic content on the Internet, and setting up a workable model to do so. Production, direction, distribution, and intellectual property representatives were invited to join what would prove to be a very fruitful session.

Led by moderator Jeltje van Nieuwenhoven, participants spoke constructively about possible ways of disclosing our cultural heritage and making it as accessible as possible. Looking back, we can safely say that the discussion delivered an extremely productive exploration of insights. All parties seem to strive towards a common goal: to preserve and provide access to audiovisual heritage. We are currently following up on this discussion so as to arrive at a concrete and workable exploitation model.
