Traffic Signs Quiz
In this traffic signs quiz the direction is reversed: the drawn sign appears first, and you pick its name.
The Sign Appears, You Name It
Each of the 20 questions in this traffic signs quiz shows one drawn sign and four names. Knowing what a sign tells you to do and knowing what it is called are separate skills; permit study needs both, and this page trains the second. The moment you choose, the answer grades itself and a one-line note confirms the name and its job.
The Bank Behind the Questions
Questions pull from 35 signs drawn as vector graphics to the federal MUTCD standard — the manual that specifies every real sign’s shape, color, and symbol. The set spans three families:
- Regulatory signs, which state the law: stop, yield, speed limit, do not enter, one way, no turns.
- Warning signs, the yellow diamonds that flag curves, crossings, merges, and signals ahead.
- Guide and service signs, the green, blue, and brown panels that point rather than command.
A few silhouettes — the walking pedestrian, the leaping deer, the shoveling worker — are deliberate simplifications, and no question turns on their fine lines.
Why Names Are Worth Drilling
Handbooks, quiz questions, and driving instructors all refer to signs by name. If pennant, crossbuck, or advisory speed reads as noise, a question about the rule behind it starts one step behind. Naming the sign fast leaves the whole question for the actual decision.
Scoring, Saved in Your Browser
Four options per question, instant right or wrong, a full review of all 20 at the end, and your best score kept in your browser. Nothing to download, no signup. When the names come quickly, the road signs test runs the same drawings in the opposite direction and asks what each one means.
