Warning Signs Quiz

This warning signs quiz asks 18 questions on the signs that announce a hazard before you reach it.

Eighteen Questions on the Hazard Signs

Warning signs make up the largest family in the sign system, and this quiz gives them 18 questions of their own. Each question shows one drawn sign with four options; the answer grades itself instantly with a one-line explanation, the end screen reviews all 18, and your best score stays in your browser.

Mostly Yellow Diamonds

The heart of the family is the yellow diamond with a black symbol. The bank covers its main groups:

  • Curves and turns, including the arrow shapes that tell a gentle curve from a sharp turn.
  • Intersections ahead: cross road, side road, T, and Y.
  • Merges, lane endings, and divided-highway transitions.
  • Crossings: pedestrian, deer, and the railroad advance warning.
  • Condition signs: signal ahead, stop ahead, slippery when wet, hill.

Two Exceptions in Other Colors

Not every warning is yellow, and the quiz covers both exceptions. School signs use a five-sided pentagon in fluorescent yellow-green — the only pentagon on the road. Work-zone signs keep the diamond shape but switch to orange, marking temporary conditions: workers, flaggers, lane shifts.

About the Drawings

Every sign here is a vector drawing to the federal MUTCD spec, not a photograph, so each symbol appears exactly as the standard defines it. The pedestrian, deer, and worker silhouettes are simplified on purpose, and no question depends on their detail. When two diamonds look alike — merge against added lane, curve against turn — the explanation names the feature that separates them.

One Family, Full Depth

Warning signs also show up inside the broader 20-question sign pages and the general permit test, mixed with other families. This is the only page where the whole hazard family is drilled on its own, school and work-zone signs included.
