Motorcycle Permit Practice Test
This motorcycle permit practice test asks 20 questions on riding knowledge from the MSF canon: braking, cornering, lane strategy, and gear.
Twenty Questions From the MSF Canon
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum is the backbone of rider education in the US, and every question here stays inside it. All 20 are rules questions — no sign identification, since signs and markings read the same from a saddle as from a driver’s seat and have their own quizzes on this site. What changes on two wheels is physics and visibility, and that is what this test asks about.
Four Topic Areas
- Braking: using both brakes together, why the front brake supplies most of the stopping power, and how stopping changes in a curve.
- Cornering: setting entry speed before the turn, looking through the corner, and pressing the handgrip in the direction of the turn.
- Lane strategy: the three positions within a lane, keeping a space cushion, and staying out of other drivers’ blind spots.
- Gear: helmet and eye protection, gloves, boots that cover the ankle, and why covered skin matters at any speed.
How the Test Runs
Four options per question. The answer grades itself the moment you pick, with a one-line explanation. The end screen reviews all 20, and your best score is saved in your browser. Nothing to download and no account.
What Stays Out
Rules that vary by state — permit ages, supervision requirements, passenger restrictions — are not asked here, because this bank holds only material the MSF teaches the same way everywhere. This is also a knowledge test, not a skills course: nothing on a screen replaces practice in a parking lot or a hands-on MSF class, and the questions do not pretend otherwise.
