Right of Way Quiz

This right of way quiz sets up 15 junction scenarios and asks the same question each time: who goes first?

Fifteen Junctions, One Question

Every item in this right of way quiz draws a junction with two or more vehicles — sometimes a pedestrian — and asks which one proceeds. Four options, an instant verdict with the rule spelled out in one line, a full review at the end, and your best score saved in your browser.

The Rules the Scenarios Are Built On

  • Four-way stop: first to arrive goes first; if two arrive together, the driver on the right goes.
  • Uncontrolled intersection: yield to the vehicle on your right.
  • Left turn: yield to oncoming traffic going straight.
  • Roundabout: yield to traffic already circulating.
  • T-intersection: the ending road yields to the through road.
  • Private road or driveway: yield to everything on the main road.
  • Pedestrian in a crosswalk: the pedestrian goes first.
  • Emergency vehicle with lights and siren: everyone yields.

These rules read the same in every state handbook, which is why they live in this shared quiz rather than on the state pages.

Scenarios Instead of Definitions

The law never grants right of way; it only says who must yield. That wording matters: memorizing a rule and applying it to a junction you are looking at are different skills, and drawn scenarios force the second one. Two cars at a stop sign look nothing like a sentence in a handbook until the rule has been used a few times, so each explanation names the rule that decided the scenario.

Where This Fits

Right of way is the densest topic in any road rules quiz, and here it gets 15 questions to itself. The general 20-question permit test mixes a few junction questions in with signs and markings; this page is where the whole set lives.
