Road Markings Quiz
This pavement markings test runs 15 questions, each built on a drawn road scene rather than a photograph.
Fifteen Scenes, Fifteen Questions
Each question in this pavement markings test shows a drawn scene — a stretch of road with its lines, arrows, or symbols — and asks what the marking means or what it lets you do. Four options, instant grading with a one-line explanation, a full review at the end, and a best score saved in your browser.
Two Colors Do Most of the Talking
One distinction answers more marking questions than any other: yellow lines separate traffic moving in opposite directions, while white lines separate lanes moving the same way. See yellow on your left and you are on the correct side of a two-way road. The quiz returns to this rule from several angles until it reads automatically.
What the Scenes Cover
- Broken lines, which may be crossed, against solid lines, which discourage or forbid it.
- Double yellow center lines and when crossing is allowed.
- A solid line paired with a broken one, and which side may pass.
- Lane-use arrows, including turn-only lanes.
- Stop lines, crosswalks, and edge lines.
Why the Scenes Are Drawn
All 15 scenes are vector drawings to the federal MUTCD standard. Real pavement photos come with worn paint, shadows, and glare; a drawing shows the pattern itself, which is what a question actually tests. The scenes stay crisp at any screen size.
Beyond This Page
Marking questions also appear inside the general 20-question permit test, three per run, mixed with signs and rules. This page is the full-depth road markings quiz — the only place all 15 scenes appear together.
