Massachusetts Permit Practice Test
Use this free Massachusetts permit practice test to drill 20 questions on signs, road rules, and Massachusetts facts. Each answer is scored instantly, with a short explanation.
What the 20 Questions Cover
The quiz holds 20 multiple-choice questions in four groups. Seven deal with road signs and what they mean. Six deal with rules of the road: right-of-way, following distance, and safe driving decisions. Two deal with pavement markings, and five test facts that apply specifically to Massachusetts. Every question is multiple choice with a single correct answer.
The Massachusetts Numbers to Know
Driver licensing in Massachusetts is handled by the Registry of Motor Vehicles, usually shortened to RMV. The minimum age for a learner’s permit is 16. Drivers under 18 must complete 40 hours of supervised driving practice. The per-se blood alcohol limit for adult drivers is 0.08.
Those four facts are the source for every Massachusetts-specific question in the test. Nothing else about the state is claimed here or asked in the quiz.
How Scoring and Feedback Work
You take the questions one at a time. Each offers four possible answers. As soon as you select one, the test tells you whether you were right, and a single line explains the correct answer. After question 20 you see a full review of the whole run: every question, your pick, and the right choice side by side. Your best score stays saved in your browser, so you always know the mark to beat.
Treat this as independent practice only. The site has no affiliation with the Massachusetts RMV or any state agency. Requirements change from year to year, and the state’s official driver manual is the final word on anything covered here.
